| When was the last time
you did something that you have dreamed of for a long time? Have you
wanted to go skydiving or mountain climbing but didn't have the time?
Have you given up on going to a far off destination that you have always
wanted to visit but didn't because something else came up? Have you not
switched to a job that you would love because it might involve some
risk?
What would happen if you went for
that dream? Would you even try? What if money, time, and current
responsibilities weren't an obstacle? Would you go for it? The following
letter was on BMXTalk, a bulletin board that BMXer's use to chat, ask
questions, or to spread news about BMX, primarily in the Northwest. Read
it and see if it inspires you toward your dreams!
Dear Mike,
I am
sorry to announce that my next clinic on September 4th will unfortunately
have to be my last clinic of the 2003 race season. On September
11th I will be flying out to meet up with the redline guys and will be
on the road with the team for a while on a quest to turn AA
pro. being classified as one of
the fastest riders in the world has always been a life long dream of
mine, and now that I have
graduated high school I have nothing holding me back and decided
to chase my dreams and make them a reality.
So please post this every where you can it would be greatly appreciated.
And I hope to see everyone out on September fourth for the last Eric
Meyer clinic and it's a good time to bring your rider out and get them
geared up and tuned up for the big state finals about two weeks later.
so don't miss out. You're only cheating yourself.....
Sincerely,
Eric Meyer # 1
How awesome is that!!! He is
going for it!!! Trying to be one of the best in a sport that he loves.
Will he be a future Olympian? A top AA Pro? Who knows? But he is giving
it a shot to be the best! What if he succeeds? He probably will and it
will be because he took a chance and did the things he needed to do to
give him the opportunity. What if he fails? I doubt it, but it won't be
because he didn't try and he will have the knowledge to maybe give it a
second, third or fourth shot. What if he doesn't try? Then he will
always wonder "What If?" How many "What If's?" do
you have in your life? WHAT IF you started to change that right now.
WHAT IF you went after that dream. How could it change your life? Set a
goal, plan to achieve it, don't be afraid of failure because the only
true failure is not trying. After reading his letter, how can you not
root and cheer for the guy? How can you not want him to achieve that
dream.
To Eric and to all those who read
this and are changed to follow your dreams, I lift a glass of Mt.
Dew and will encourage and support you in your efforts.
